Longford is a prime venue in the midlands for all your entertainment needs. Locals and visitors alike are spoiled for choice with award winning restaurants, great cafes, and bistros, pubs hosting live traditional music as well as top Irish performers in various music venues around the county. Longford also hosts a vibrant nightclub scene for those that like to party into the early hours and beyond.  The Little Blue Room is a newly established small theatre space in Longford dedicated to providing a platform for live music and the performing arts. The Little Blue Room normally hosts events once a month, which are publicised through local media outlets and social media channels.

Movies & Drama
Longford Cineplex offers movie buffs the most recent releases from the world of cinema while the fine Backstage Theatre presents a yearly calendar of drama, dance and music from Ireland and abroad. St Mels Musical Society host an annual show and The Bog Lane Theatre in Ballymahon, Longford Backstage Theatre Group, Orbus Theatre and many smaller drama groups also present annual events.

Festivals & Events
A fine variety of  social, cultural and sporting events as well as an eclectic mix of festivals take place in County Longford throughout the year. With activities to suit all tastes and ages both locals and visitors to the Longford area are kept entertained. From the Lanesborough Triathlon, Longford Cycle Tour, Longford Walking Festival, Water Polo Championships, to Lanesboro Traditional Horse Fair, Longford Vintage Show, ICA Craft Fairs, Lough Ree Environmental Summer School, and Abbeyshrule Fly In, this midland county has something for everyone. 

The Marquee in Drumlish Festival celebrates County Longfords connections with all that is great in country music, while the Ballymahon based NewC music festival is already drawing huge crowds to enjoy the talent of Irelands more contemporary music artists. The Sean Nós Set Dancing Festival, The Windsong International Harp Festival, Longford Trad Fest and  several small Irish Country Music festivals, show that Longford keeps the Irish cultural traditions alive. 

Longford also has plenty to entertain families with events such as the County Longford Agricultural show, The Harvest Festival, The Fleadh Ceol, The County Ploughing Championships, Lough Ree Environmental Summer Festival, Abbeyshrule Family Fun Day & Fly In, The National ISPCA open day and much more. A selection of historical, musical and literary events  also take place annually in Longford, some in commemoration of those that have left their mark on County Longford, and others like The Farrell Clan Rally which welcomes home those who are researching their Longford and Farrell ancestry.

Arts & Culture
Longford has a thriving arts scene with a variety of events and festivals taking place throughout the year. Cruthú Arts Festival showcases the wealth of visual and musical artistic talent from around the region, while ‘Engage’ Longford is an artists led not-for-profit initiative that provides a platform to promote Longford as a hub for contemporary visual art. The organisers of Engage host regular art exhibitions and shows in the dedicated ‘Engage’ exhibition space in Longford town centre.  

The Backstage Theatre and Atrium Gallery host a varied annual programme of drama, comedy and live music with new shows and exhibitions on a regular basis, while the Purple Onion Art Gallery located on the Longford/Roscommon border hosts some of the most impressive art exhibitions in the country. The Aisling Childrens Art Festival is always a colourful and creative event for the children of County Longford with a jam packed annual calendar, while the newest addition to the arts and music scene in Longford is the The Little Blue Room, a small theatre space  dedicated to providing a platform for live music and the performing arts.
